:th_skull: i have a 99 gtp, having multiple issues.the battery was constantly going dead over night.new battery, even had a trickle charger on,still went dead. had the alternator checked for charging and diode-all good there. was having issues with ignition switch not going into the locked position-replaced the switch, but still will not go into the locked position.also, the gear selector indicator is always lit up. now tried to start it today, won't do anything-except for gauges going nuts. the gas gauge dropped to half, the tach MAXED out, bouncing around kind of vibrating-could hear weird clicking under hood9w/key in run position, not trying to crank engine).also have idle issues-won't idle cold, idles way too high warm-don't know if this is related at all......i don't know where to start looking anymore.could this be an issue with the ignition switch? any ideas greatly appreciated. thanks.:th_shakinghead2:

have you done an amp draw test on the battery? that would be a good place to start. It sounds like you might have a malfunctioning circuit which is drawing current from the battery at a pretty fast rate. If the amperage draw is more than a few hundred milliamps, start tracing individual circuits to figure out which one is using the current.

With your ignition not going to the full off position, you are leaving power on. The trans indicator light is just one of many things like the pcm and other modules that might be powered up with key on.

Fix the ignition to go back all the way and report back if that keeps you from having a dead battery.

thanks guys-i'm going to pull the steering column out and see if i can figure out what's going on there-may just replace it. i'll update when that's done.
