Electrical issue when I shut off my car.

I'm having a problem when i shut off my car and my battery dies. Sometimes it turns on right away, sometimes it doesn't. It will keep me from pulling the key out too. I've closed my door a couple times and it turns back on but everything is reset. I don't know what's going on. I figured there had to be a short somewhere. Anyone know?

I would clean all the engine grounds and disconnect the battery and clean all the connections.

Makes sure none of them are damaged.

Stupid question: where are all the engine grounds?

There is one where the engine and trans meet, right up front. I believe it's a 15mm but not sure. The main frame ground will be right off the negative battery terminal, can't remember that size off hand. Anyway just take them off and use a little wire brush and clean up the surfaces on the frame/block and the ring terminal.
