Electrical Issue...I Think.

Well ever since winter hit this year my 2001 Grand Prix GTP has been having problems my alternator went out and I fixed it. I had a really bad exhaust leak and I got that fixed too. All common problems for an everyday driver over a 100k, but after that is when things started to get weird. During the time I had the exhaust leak I noticed that my car was Idleing weird, like going between 1000 and 2000 rpm, the problem persisted after I got the leak fixed, and I thought it must be an 02 sensor. Then I installed a Cold Air Intake today and the idleing problem ceased, when I went out onto the road to test it the Airbag light came on, my door locks clicked and my info screen, radio/cd player, all interior lights (except my gauge lights), completely went out. The issue continued sort of randomly, when I push the gas the lights go out, but when I push the brakes everything comes back on until I push the gas again. I had the battery checked, and a diagnostic run. the codes were PO742, PO420, basically 02 sensor, and torque converter locked on. I don't quite under stand how either of those things could cause this problem. maybe one of you guys could help me. thanx in advance.

wow sry to hear about those, Im not really sure whats going on there, but did you check your ground wire and make sure your alternator is wired up correctly/securely?

no I haven't but thats a good idea ill try that along with replacing my negative battery cable, and the o2 sensor, and having the toque converter checked. :th_thumb-up: thanks bro.

UPDATE
It overheated when i replaced the battery. so i replaced the coolant.
I took it to the mechanic today, we drove it and the problem has gone away evidently, I dont know, I got the battery replaced yesterday, so maybe it reset the ecu or something. anyway he sad I have a bad outside cv joint which was what i mistook for the trans slipping I guess, im gonna fix that, and the o2 and if it starts screwin up again i guess il start over again.

update

we figured out it was a relay module that controls all the electronics, that went bad. he replaced that and, my radiator was leaking so we replaced that, and my mechanic fixed the cb joint over the weekend, and im picking it up today, hopefully we won't have any probs. ill let u guys know how it goes. evidently it was just a bunch of stuff messing up @ the same time coincedently when i put the new intake on so maybe nothing messes up when i pick it up. will tell later. peace.
