• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

EJOUIE"s 2005 Impala

I had an open cone on the GP. I would prefer the quiet if it has minimal impact on performance.

Time for an update.

Winter has slowed down the modding, but I do have stuff to report.

The imp did get a transgo shift kit put on. Seems to have firmed things up but now it will occasionally thump when accelerating after a stop. Thought it was the computer learning shifts, but its been 7,000 miles...

Also, this has been happening

Bought a reamunfactured cluster that I will install next weekend. Its got the oil pressure and battery voltage in addition to the 4 guages I had before.

It is all over the place. It stayed pegged at 2800 for 3 days for example. Also confirmed that the pcm is getting good data through torque.

Lol. The grand prix forced me to be this thorough. Paying dividends now on the imp.

I got the cluster in. Nice to have it all clean.

Also replaced the cabin and engine air filters. Engine filter looked like it had been replaced before unlike the cabin filter.

Got the intermediate steering shaft replaced. Took several hours as the part under the steering wheel refused to let go. Had to hammer in a flathead to seperate it and soak it in PBlaster.

New on left.

It wasn't clicking. It was more of a clunk that really couldn't be heard but could easily be felt through the steering wheel when braking or going over bumps.

So far so good with the short road test. Steering feels a bit heavier.

Made an unfortunate discovery. I swear this was not rusty back in october when I was last under the car.

Strange thng is, as you can kinda see in the photos, that everywhere is in good shape. Still has the paint even.

Dropping it off saturday to have it looked at first thing monday.

Well, the car is gone. Carmax took it. The body shop said the frame had a significant hole from to rust and would be 5 grand to fix.

So instead they coated it to not rust further. Carmax didn't notice.

So, I replaced it with this:

2004 Comp G. Florida car. 76k miles. $2800.

" Re: EJOUIE"s 2005 Impala

Time to change the name of the thread...
or start a new thread!
Hey! You could call the new thread:
EJOUIE'S 2004 Grand Prix!

Yeah, I will start a thread for it when its ready. Previous owner did not clean it at all before selling. Its going to need some work before I am ready to share it up close. Exterior, interior, and some maintenance.

Also, some gasket or seal went on my way home from work. Overheated and starting hissing and spitting coolant just below the blower snout. Hoping it is just a plastic elbow or LIM. Those would be understandable and I know how to fix them. They were on the to do list anyways.

Tackling that friday. Carpooling (15 miles out of the way) with the wife in the meantime.

She is supportive of this maddening hobby of mine though. (I think she plans to claim the car as her own after I restore it....she already is calling it "Rosita.")
