So on mine and my gf's anniversary on october 30/31'st we decide to go out to the bars with a couple friends on out way there (my gf was driving) we T-Boned someone that ran the light as they were turning. So now my truck is trashed and I am still waiting on the insurance company to get back to me with whether or not its totalled or they are gonna fix it. Also we got to spend 17 hours in the hospital that night instead of going out one more time just to have fun before the baby was born. Well on November 2nd we were back in the hospital because the gf was going into labor. Our son was born on November 3rd at 12:10pm we were at the hospital until November 5th. Now today as I was driving my car I came up to a stop sign and I noticed a weird smell like the brakes were sticking. I continued through the light hoping it wasn't me maybe the car ahead of me and as I started accelerating I noticed the car was not going very fast with the amount of throttle I was giving it. So sure **** my brakes were sticking I pulled over to the side of the road to have smoke rolling out from the fenders thank God it didn't start on fire. I let cool and thankfully I was only a few miles from my parents so I babied it there. So as of right now both my vehicles are incapacitated I have a newborn at home and anyone with kids knows the fun and joys that come with that and my girlfriend isn't working because of the baby so that means money is tight we had just enough to get buy so I can't really afford to buy a new caliper? pads? and rotor? I am not sure what all I will have to buy to fix this problem yet I haven't gotten a chance to tear into it.

So right now I am using my dads diesel to get around (not to bad of a deal I love the truck) but my gf will need a car for when I go back to work I just don't get why when one this goes wrong everything has to go wrong. Now I know other people have it worse off this is just very frustrating and is something I want to get off my chest.

murphy's law. that's ****ty though, my guess is the caliper pin seized. if that's the problem, how long it's been bad for is the factor for whether or not you will need to buy rotors and pads.

good thing you, the gf, and the baby are all well.

when calipers stick, u either rebuild or just buy newer ones. pads are prolly ok, rotors might be as long as they are not warped or have deep grooves worn in them from the pads.

Yeah I still gotta get the time to tear it apart. And its just frustrating cause now out of all the times the car gives me problems it just couldn't wait until after the gf was back to work and money wasnt so tight
