is there a way to check the egr ? after i put the original egr back on the first couple times i started the car it kinda rattled a bit i assume it was the egr. i am working on starting some upgrades but this is first . i bought an obd2 reader that links to a smartphone so i could check for kr but as i tried to find that setting going by alphabetical order in the k's it only had a setting for kilometers nothing bout kr

Try cleaning the original. Take a small (tiny) flat head screwdriver and scrape off as much of the black you can. Be sure that the valve can move up and down freely. Drowning it in carb cleaner after you done all you can with the screwdriver is also a good idea. I just did mine this morning and it fixed my issue. My car is a 97 with 162,000 miles on it and that EGR is stock.

Skip cleaning..

Google the code. If it's for flow.. then you are barking up the wrong tree based on the name of the code having "EGR" in it. Cars aren't quite to the point where it tells you the exact part to swap.

Kinda like when someone chips a piston and sees a ton of knock. That doesn't mean the knock sensor is bad, it means you are engine swapping.
