EGR valve

Hi there.
I have a 2000 GP GT w/ 3.8 V6 in it.

It failed the anual emmision test and the mechanic suggested that i clean the EGR valve, but failed to tell me the location of it.

Any input would be apreciated.

Tks much.

has an electrical plug on top, and the tubes going under the Throttle Body....
has a black metal shield going around it...

when you are looking at your engine. follow your intake rubber piping up to the Throttle body. then go about 4.5 inches toward the firewall... and you would have ran into the EGR.

I know this thread is fairly old but I've got a 2005 Grand Prix (Base) NA. I just can't this damn EGR Valve.

Anybody got any pics? I've seen pictures of the actual EGR Valve itself, but can somebody give me a pic of where it is in the engine ?????

look above the crossover pipe. it is towards the back half of the upper portion on the motor. it has a tube connected to the lower intake manifold and the rear header.

Right behind your throttle body, your engine is a little different, but egr is in the same spot.

Thank you good sir.

Kinda funny though; I got this post hours after I decided to tinker around with my car a bit more. I couldn't (for the life of me) find my Power Steering fluid reservoir and wasn't too sure about the EGR valve either, so I invested a few *more* hours, and figured what the hell and just dove into it.

I made a little vid about the power steering fluid reservoir on YouTube (but not about the EGR Valve; although under the description of the video about the Power Steering reservoir I did mention I worked on my EGR Valve). If anybody else is wondering about the EGR Valve and prefers to be spoon fed like me (what?! LOL ) then I'll post something about the EGR Valve. Tee-Hee.
