Easy downshifting?

Is it normal for our trannys to downshift so easy? When I slow down for someone to turn, or go over a speed bump then just give it light gas like I normally would my car downshifts so easy, like as soon as I touch the gas pedal. Normal or not?

depends how fast youre going. if youre cruising in fourth, shifting down to third goes real easy.

now, shifting down to second from fourth? that shouldnt happen without a lot of gas.

I don't think its in 4th, it usually only happens when I'm driving around 35-45. If I'm doin 55+ it wont downshift without half throttle

Pretty sure it's downshifting. It makes that annoying PS pump wine GT's get like twice as loud when it does it. The rmp's will go way up to like 3500 when it was only at 1500 rpms before. It acts like the O/D isn't kicking in, and I have my foot to the floor.

My SE does the exact same thing, except it doesn't matter what gear its in. If the motor is in the correct RPM range for the gear it's in, and I get on the gas even somewhat aggressively, it will down-shift. This might even seem normal if it weren't for the fact that it will down-shift so far that the motor cannot possibly produce enough power to accelerate the car, and it will often actually lose speed.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but maybe we can both get our problems answered.
