Easy brake upgrade question

I am deciding the same. 06 Impala vs LS1 calipers.

Nice to save weight, but nice to just bolt on.

Decisions decisions.

I didn't see if it was mentioned but if you do the 06+ swap you need new pads AND rotors because they are not the same size. The caliper will bolt right up to the existing knuckle though.

You would have to try that to know if it works.

The brackets have two mounting interfaces.

The side on the strut = same for all.

The side on the caliper is the mystery.

Yes I have new 11.92" 2002 Impala rotors.

Those are not the right ones. 06+ rotors are thinner and a whole different part number. They might possibly work but I would doubt it.

I did quite a bit of research on this because I was/still am going to swap my fronts to the 06+ calipers. The only reason I haven't already is because I am waiting for my next pad/rotor change and will be putting them on.

I don't see marginal thickness being a big issue.

They work with LS1 calipers for sure.

I wish I knew the mass difference of an LS1 caliper to 06 Imp.

Edit: Offset might be an issue.
