easiest shift kit to install ?

what is a easy to install shift kit ? i have never looked into our trannys but i know my trucks you have to drill into the valve body and do all sorts of crap . are these easier to install ? i can work on car and put them back together but trannys i just dont mess with .
 


I cannot comment on the Transgo ones. I have never installed, let alone looked at one of those.

But the cheap ones from ZZP or WBS, as well as the good ole DIY shift kit are fairly easy to install. It only takes about a half hour longer to do when changing your trans fluid & filter. All total to drop the pan an install these spacers & maybe the springs would be 2 hours or so. I didn't find it very difficult at all.
 
Well the ones the vendor sells (or you can make yourself) are really the easiest ones as all you have to do is drop the pan and drop in a few components to the accumulator. However, that said, after speaking with trannyman I now feel the best route is to go with a Transgo shift kit. He can tell you more if you contact him.

Yes, the spacer shift kits from ZZP, WBS, etc are the easiest to install. But you get what you pay for, like scotty said.
 
yea that is what i was afraid of the easy 1's are the cheapest and the hard they are the more worth while they are .
 
I had a "kit" in mine, however, when Trannyman did my transmission he installed the Transgo. I got to see what came out and what went back in. There is a big difference between the two kits.
 


you know the only problem is i have to be able to do this myself because all the tranny shops out here in the san francisco bay area , ca . charge an arm and leg for any kind of tranny work (nothing but crooks out here for mechanics) but i figure as long as i have a weekend to do it i can take 2 night and 2 days to install and run into any problems that may arise .
 
a tad off-topic, but to answer the OP about the easiest shift 'kit' i would think of is the PowrTuner ;-). now i dont know how far in comparison to the PCM is for the shifts to the actual spacers and springs, but no one mentioned it, so i did lol.

Actually yes, the PT will do a better job than a shift kit will....but it is not a shift kit. But it is also a hell of a lot more expensive than a shift kit. :)
 
yea i know derek, hence the quotes lol. and yea it is expensive to get a powrtuner if only to adjust the shifts lol, then again, u can adjust almost everything else with a Powrtuner :-p
 


so if a power tuner does do all that and more it will probably a better buy than doing the shift kit !

Not really. With a good kit, the two go hand in hand. I guess if you do a less than quality kit then, yeah just go with a tuner and ask for help.
