Easiest HP gains

First posting, so I hope it goes through correctly. I have an '05 Comp G and am wondering what are the easiest, cheapest HP's gains. Mostly need improvements in the 40-60mph range. It really needs a 5 speed, but that's another story. Anyway, what would be the first step; K&N intake, chip, pulley, etc.? Thanks for any info

TDC Racing intake is the best intake you can get for your car right now, ulley in the future, but first you need supporting mods

Headers or PLOG/Crossover/ported manifolds
Downpipe
U-Bend delete
180* Thermostat
A nice tune

Then start thinking about dropping a pulley

Porting or upgrading your throttle body, the blower case to match the throttle body size, and lower intake manifold can also help a lot

another thing.... you should go introduce yourself in the intro section and tell us a little bit about yourself. People are more inclined to help if you show you are here to mingle as well as learn

Thanks for the info and the bit about introducing myself. I wasn't even aware of that section.

Welcome. A homemade Fenderwell Intake $50, Downpipe $100-$200, PCM $100-$200, Powerlog $125, 104's $12, 180* thermostat $7-$10. Should be a good start for you. If you have the funds get headers. You'll hear about a u-bend delete but dont worry, the 04+ GP's dont have a u-bend in the exhaust.

yea good call on the u-bend delete, i could have made him spend money he didn't need to

Some good advice I can give... People sell downpipes used for excellent prices all the time. Check 3800pro.com and clubgp.com in their classified sections as well. Downpipes are getting to be a dime a dozen now. Everything else comes with patience, but usually you get great deals. I just bought a a PLOG and Crossover for $90 shipped, springs for $125 shipped, electric water pump and header wrap combined $177 shipped, and some more stuff. I saved roughly $300 right there.

Yes, you can make your own intake, but I do recommend TDC Racings intake. Not only is he a great member of this community on our forum, but the quality of it is excellent and top notch, and the price in unbeatable. It also goes into your fender making it a true FWI. It's also 4 inches in diameter! I bought the piping from him and used my cone filter and it is fantastic!

quicklynx has already stated what youre going to be looking for.

just make sure if you want to get in this deep you have a way to scan for knock and how your car is actually running. many are going to recommend a tuner, but id think an aeroforce gauge, scanmaster, or ls1m would be a better choice.

I didn't have any clue how to tune at first, but now I can do pretty well on my own. Just takes some practice and we all will walk you through it

headers really allowed my car to breath. power in all ranges picked up.

intake, headers, 3.5 pulley, and a good tune should get you in the mid 13's

Might be a bit of a stretch there but its possible...got a guy around the KC area that threw down a 13.6 with DR's a built tranny with stock gears, Custom Tune, FWI, T-Stat, Pacesetter's, Custom 3" Exhaust, plugs/wires, ported genIII/TB with a 3.2...stock rockers and cam.

I ran a 13.8 @ 99 with 1.84's RR, PEM's, custom 3" exhaust, stock tranny, 3.5", tuned, plugs, t-stat, CAI...

I'd say low 14's or high 13's with a good launch...

with decent tires (i had slick street tires that couldent hook at all!!) and i was low 14's. would have been high 13's with good tires and i was traping 98.

3.5 and tune with good tires its capable of mid 13's at about 103 or so

also for PCM. Word on the street is to stay away from ZZP's pcm. Check out Intense or Overkill. Overkills is more expensive but its worth it. That 40mph lag that you hate will be 90% gone. Overkill has a compg so he knows them like that back of his hand.

Thanks for the input guys. Lot's of options. Sounds like the intake would be the first option with least amount of work. All I want for X-mas is... Looking forward to more help and answers down the road.

Yeah, ZZP blew my car up and all they did was refund me the money for m PCM...timing was so bad I ran 15's WITH mods...ran slower with the ZZP PCM and a lot of bolt-ons vs. my bone stock car with an intake...so you can guess?

A intake should be one of your first mods. The whine of the supercharger will be louder and will make heads turn, plus it sounds awesome lol. Just take your time and do it right. There are alot of members who know quite a bit about GP's. All you gotta do is ask we'll be happy to help the best we can!
