Easiest fix for LED signals

Not that I'm doing this, but there's a right way and a wrong way to install a diode, which is an electrical one way check valve. He's gonna need to know whether the flow is towards the lamp or away. Alternatively, was the band on the diode towards the bulb or away. The band indicates the no flow direction.

I'm guessing the band is on the voltage side.
Sorry. I presumed knowledge of diode was known.

The cathode (band) goes toward the bulb, on the 12v side (blue wire). You want to allow electricity to the bulb, but not feed-back to the circuit.
