E85 Thinking about switching

So far in my build I had been planning on running 93 Pump gas. Recently at the meet in MI I saw quite a few E85 cars and it has put the bug in my mind to possibly try switching my build to run e85. Couple questions though. I am aiming for a driveable 400whp. I currently have a new "Tengis" Moar!Performance 255lph pump and 60lb injectors with a fuel pump rewire. ZZP fuel logs. Are these all compatible with E85 and will I max any of them out with my power goals? Currently have a catted 3" DP, Wideband, ST4 cam, mildly ported heads, cometic etc.. precision 6262 turbo w/IC on an L67 bottom end. 3k stall with built trans. 7/8chain

What is that website for locating e85 stations?

What's your injector duty cycle? You need to figure your duty cycle will go up 30%. My caveman math says if you are close to 75% you will be on the bleeding edge of your injectors capacity. Can't find anything on that pump, never heard of it. My guess is its fine as others have ran e85 on stock pump.

Kroger sells e85 here in Columbus, as well as speedway. Shouldn't have an issue in Ohio finding it. Just Google e85 locations, I know there is a website with listings.

Do it. Ohio is pretty ripe with E85 stations. Pretty safe bet that most Krogers have it, which is why I'm hoping to go corn fed this weekend.

for only 400 horse on that setup you dont need corn. however, if you still want to run it, the 60's should be enough since you shouldnt need much more then 12-14 psi of boost to get to 400. my injector duty cycle with basically the same fuel system on race gas is around 70% on 18psi. if you ever decide that you want to snap that 7/8" chain you will need more injector...

Make sure you seal up the feed line coming out of that fuel pump. I bought one off of him a few years ago, and the nipple didn't fit the corrugated tubing right. Just clamping it down won't make it seal right, and you'll have big time issues.

I had my pump out at least 5 times trying to get it to seal. Finally wrapped the nipple (chuckle) with Teflon tape and its holding pressure. Get the good hose clamps too. I know Teflon tape is not going to last forever, there is a fuel rated tape that I should have used(learned that after I did it) . But it starts for me every time, first time, and I'm sick of pulling the pump lol.

Permatex #1 form a gasket. It's gasoline safe, and hardening. You goop it onto the nipple, and put the pipe over it so that it fills all the gap, then clamp that **** down. It's been a year now, no issues.

If you can readily source E85....DO IT! I have to drive 40 minutes to fill up the 55 gallon drums I keep at my house, and to me it is still worth it to run it in my street cars. It controls detonation 10x better than pump gas, it helps to pull latent heat from the chamber, it has a much broader tuning window...the list goes on and on.

I suggest a few things right off the bat....
-bigger pump
-bigger injectors
-Quick Fuel Beaker/ Tester

My reasoning on the pump/ injectors isn't necessarily because you need it right now...but because 400whp will get boring quick, and you WILL get greedy and wan't to turn it up. It's better to set it up now so you have the extra fuel on tap when you are ready. Anything over 80lb injectors for high impedance, go straight to Injector Dynamics.
