E85 questions

So I already searched for people running e85 and found nothing. I understand it's harder to tune than regular pump gas, just curious why more people on here haven't ran it. Also how hard is it to convert these cars to e85. I understand possible switching the fuel pump to a wahlbro and running new fuel lines but I really don't know. Since these cars do so well with race gas I wish someone has a dyno comparison of it or something. Someone help a noob out.

You need to be comfortable with tuning to make the switch. A wideband is a must, as well as larger injectors then fuel pump rewire and possibly better fuel pump depending on what you are seeing from tuning. It initially takes 30-40% additional fueling and tune it from there. You will lose some mpg, but you will see very good gains as far as hp.

pretty much all said already. i had everything ready to make the swap to e85, but never got around to it. i suggest 65# injectors, a racetronix fuel pump setup, and a wideband. then find someone who will tune it (unless you will tune it yourself).

It's very simple, 60# injectors, depending on your current tune just a scale of the IFR table, and depending on mods the stock fuel system is fine. I went 12.2@113mph on a completely stock fuel system so it's got quite a bit of room (on E85 of course) It's really not hard at all, the reason more people don't switch is because they either don't have a tuner or E85 is just too hard to find in their area. You'll have to change the fuel filter after about 500-1000miles cause the alcohol content will clean out your gas tank thus killing the fuel filter.

I don't know why people say it's hard to tune, it really isn't. Getting a wideband for any tuning is a must but it's possible to tune off of a narrow band on E85 or fuel if you know what you're doing and know that it's not full potential. I can tell you being one of the first few to switch over that anyone who tells your to change your commanded AFR because E85 has a different one is "right" but as a person who tunes NUMEROUS 3800's on a constant basis i can tell you all you're doing there is screwing yourself over. Do what i say and you'll be A-OK. I run both my gtp's on E85 most of the year aside from winter for obvious reasons, and if you keep asking questions i'll try my absolute hardest to answer all of them.

For "dyno" purposes i can guarantee that the E85 hp will be much higher than 93 for many reasons. I went 11.8@115 on the stuff, would have never been able to pull off a time like that on 93 without popping my motor. It's good ****, period.

Hptuners, which in my opinion is by far the best, but all other tuners will work just fine as long as you know how to use it. If you or anyone else has hpt and doesn't know where to start you can send me your bin file and i'll modify what needs to be done to run E85 along with an explanation of what to do after i send it back. I don't usually charge anything but it's always nice to tip the servers lol. If you or anyone else are interested LMK and i'll give you my addy and whatnot.
