Just wandering if anyone is using e3 spark plugs with any noticeable changes or what plugs your runnin in your gp's it's time for my routine maintenance and just wantin to know the best products for the 3800

Are those the ones with the really weird design that has like 3 electrodes? because ive been wondering the same thing...Most people here use copper plugs for a modded car, including myself.

Heres a pic of them

Im kinda skeptical about these, but if people say side gapping plugs works, this isnt really different.

wouldnt side gap expose more spark to the chamber then these? bottom line is our spark system is very strong. with properly gaped plugs and regular replacement of them you will not loose any performance nor gain any from radical plug design.

all of these multi tipped plugs are just good for long term use without replacement

Theoretically you could be faster due to the "lighter wallet" mod if you bought these plugs. With the $24 difference in the cost of 6 versus Autolite copper plugs, I'll just keep the coppers and change them more often. I run the NGK TR55's in my GT and they do just fine. Have them in my 95 Bonneville too.

Get some stock lifetime warranty wires. Leave the stock coil packs (MSD, Accel, etc. are NOT an upgrade). Change the fuel filter and clean the MAF.

the reason why we use copper is because they have a colder heat range. The platinums and such are better plugs BUT they're much hotter and can give us knock problems. I know some people have run platinums/iridiums and be fine.

I kept the ones in the car that came with, they are AC Delco's double platinum and tapered tip for better spark.

Peps in this forum say that platinums dont work as good as coppers, but my car runs great.
Platinums dont conduct current as good as coppers, but the tip is tappered and is better than reg platinums.

And Double Platinums will last way longer than coppers.

So dont buy REGULAR platinums.

I would stay away from e3 and bosch plugs imo. I like autolites delcos and ngk iridiums. Also make sure your running appropriate heat range per mods. If you can handle changing plugs often but would like great performance just stick with copper.

The 3.1L can run the plats and get away with it, but the 3.8Ls are suppose to have the iridiums or copper cores and the boosted 3.8L HAVE to have iridiums or coppercore plugs. The boosted cars will destroy the platinum off the plug and fubar the way it runs.

I have the E3s in my bonnie, but she hardly gets driven but she runs decent on them as a stock car. My GTP is on the ACDelcos and will be until I mod to the point of needing a cooler temp plug and then I will change accordingly.
