So I'm new to the forum, I just recently bought a 98' GTP. Car was all stock when I bought it, and I put a K&N filter in it, MSD Coil packs and 10.3mm wires, new plugs NGK's and resonator was removed because of leakage! So the car has 188,xxx miles but runs very well, I have dissasembled throttle body and cleaned it like new, idle control valve and maf. I bought the car with a bad tranny and I rebuilt it 2 weeks ago. It has no codes of any nature! So I dynoed it today and temped in a boost guage under the hood at the supercharger at the T on front left. Anyway it only read 5.5" of boost until about 4 grand and then went to 8.5" before I shut it down. Car put down 191/212 So anyone have any ideas of what might be going on? I can't find any vacumn leaks so I'm not sure whats up. Did i just not get a good reading of boost as to where I T'd in???

You measured boost in in Hg?

If that was PSI then thats normal.

The engine doesnt flow well past 4K RPM so boost goes up.

20% drive train loss in expected, maybe more. Your car is 240hp stock at the flywheel minus 20% for the drivetrain is 192hp. Boost is in PSI, is that 8.5psi max boost? Sounds right.

MSD coil packs have a tendency to fail (1 or 2 years) and don't give better performance, stock OEM are more reliable.

that sounds about right for stock dude once u start doing mods like headers and the supporting mods for a smaller pulley youll notice the higher readings

Thanks for the replies guys! I was hoping for at least 200 hp but it was close just wondering if it sounded right! What about 12.5 mpg ??? Doesnt that seem low??
