Dyno Tune pricing

So I finally found a place that would tune the 2005 GTP. I asked if they tuned a 2005 Grand Prix GTP, and it doesn't sound like they ever have. Below is what they said:

[FONT=&quot]"Yes we do tune all kinds of cars.

It appears that we can tune the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Supercharged 3800) with our software.

Does it have any additional modifications done or is it stock and you just want it tuned up ??

The cost is $125 to license the vehicle with the software and then it is $210 for the 1st hr and $125 per hour after that. Average vehicle is on the dyno 4-5 hours, depends on how much tuning needs to be done.

You would need to drop the vehicle off for a couple of days and schedule it in. "

So would this be someone you would take your GP to, to dyno tune?

Other than getting an HP tuner, don't you have to be able to get your car on rollers to run it? I was watching demos, and that's how they were doing it.

its called a street tune when you tune it "on the street" with your own tuner. dyno is just a place they can go wot with out getting tickets. and scan the runs record the tq and hp. at least they can tell if the last change made a difference or not. VS the good old butt dyno lol

chances are they are using HPT, most all of them are these days. and they dont have a clue how to tune your car either lol where the 3800 is simple to tune, these guys are off all the time cause they tune v8's with way more pcm settings to play with.

Oh yeah. You can tell by their website that their bread and butter is working on the Chevy V8 small blocks and big blocks. They list Ford and Mopar in there also, but you know.

HP Tuners is a good way to go. for 500 or 679 you can start tuning your own vehicle, and then have the tool forever. I recommend buying the tuner and then getting a canned tune from someone like Overkill, then he or you can tweak it to custom tailor it to your specific vehicle. once you have the tune setup you could go to a dyno day event where you pay something like 50 bucks and you get 3 pulls.

A tuner purchase would definitely be better, but you have a steep learning curve and you will need to dedicate tons of hours to it.

If they can tune a ls1, they can tune a 3800. You just need to figure out how much time you want to invest.

Steep learning curve? That's why I have you gurus...haha

I'm going to grabbing my ankles getting tuners. HP Tuner for the GTP ($500-$600), and a Cobb Access Port for my WRX ($650 + maps).

The Steep part is relative... There's a few guides that'll get you as close as the dyno tune without much fanfare if you aren't goign crazy with mods! Just my $.02

I would invest in HPT, because when you are done with it, you can recoup some of what you spent, but with the dyno tune, once it's done, the cash is gone and all you have is the tune, you can't even change anything if needed.
