So I was in the market to get some dynamat, until i realized it cost like a million dollars a square foot. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative? I was thinking some carpet padding might do the job, but I'm just a poor retart that cant think of anything else. Any ides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

i cant even imagine how carpet padding would look in a trunk...ick! theres another company that sells basically the same thing as dynamat...for a good bit cheaper, maybe google sound dampening material see what come up with.

i used eDead since its now made mostly of butyl. and its been stayin on for the last 4 months.
and this is a good read here on the most popular soundeadeners.
Sound Deadener Showdown

use ebay to find the best price on this stuff.

obviously I'd put it under the carpet and glue it down lol so chances are you wouldnt even know it was there. But anyway, ill check that out. Thanks

lol its been a long day,i somehow had this mental image in my head of a trunk full of carpet padding exposed everywhere.

At least you'll have a warmer trunk and it will feel nice if you want to walk around in there LOL:th_laugh-pointup:

haha definately. Thanks guys, happy thanksgiving! I'll probably move forward on this over the weekend so I'll let you know.

Iv'e heard of people using ice shield for roofing. Downside is I think it smells a bit like tar. Should be able to get it from a hardware store.

actually no, I lied. I think the bass sounds cleaner. Less obnoxious. The drone is def minimalized though which is worth it.

ermmm they're should be some generic dynamat out there, can't give u any heads up on it but for quality, dynamat is the best over any carpeting lol.....but funds wise i'd check into a generic company ( something cheaper ! )...personally I can't afford to have my trunk filled with this sheet either.

RAAMmat is my choice in sound deadening material. It's pretty cheap per sq ft. The only downside is that you have to buy a roll of it at a time. It's like $110-$120 a roll, which comes out to about $1.75-$1.90 a square foot.
