Dual Vent hose for pcv?

PWNED

New member
I am running the FSIC and had to run a vent tube from the oil fill tube to after maf to allow the motor to not suck the oil cap in. My question is should I also run the same on the rear valve cover? Is it really needed? Or would it not be beneficial??

First, it might help you to read this: The PCV Thread

Where is your tube hooking up now? Firstly, you don't want it hooked up to your dipstick since there's no baffling, even if it isn't sucking much, it is sucking oil and blowing it into your intake. Second, you don't want the intake tied to vacuum, after the maf is perfect, just make sure it's before the throttle plate.

What I would recommend assuming your intake is before throttle plate is to use that, and tap into the oil fill cap and use something like this: Advance Auto Parts - Down for Maintenance They aren't the best or perfect, but it will decrease oil consumption.

Next, you need to check to make sure your intercooler and/or lower intake manifold is modified to allow the pcv valve exhaust path (read my pcv thread and you'll see it). If it is correct, then you're good to go!

If you find that this is blocked too, you'll need to tap the rear valve cover. Problem is that our valve covers weren't designed with clearance for a pcv hose and baffling, so you'll either have to remove and check clearances and use a grommet like the one mentioned above except place your pcv valve in it and route a hose to vacuum (any strong vacuum works, avoid the brake booster at all costs unless you run a good catch can).

Lastly, I'm always a proponent of a good catch can, though it is optional. It'll keep your intake cleaner especially if you deleted the egr. Good luck!

I will have to check your link out but a bit later. I have the FSIC that lets the pcv work but with it being small rtv is getting to it once I tighten all down. I was thinking on buying a front cover and putting it on the rear. As you can see I tapped into the oil fill tube and yes it is before the throttle plate. Best picture I can find as this was 2years ago lol.

I've blown into the hole on the throttle body if it's a gen 3 or top pipe for gen 5 to blow it free before it cures.

Ok, you definitely want to check out the link on the baffling. It is imperative on the rear going to vacuum to have baffling else it'll suck up about a quart every month and spray it in your intake.

If you go the rear method, you'll have to remove your pcv valve from the stock location and plug that hole (but not the one in the side since it runs vacuum for other stuff). Then you'll have to install a front valve cover on the rear tap the oil fill WITH BAFFLING and run to vacuum.

Honestly, I'd just use my blowing method to keep the stock location. There's nothing wrong with it.

I just had this same issue on my 2005 GTP. I finished the ZZP intercooler install with PCV modified LIM and had major pressure on my oil cap. Had to stick a breather filter on for a little to prevent death. Took the SC off the other day and put RTV around the PCV system all the way up and it fixed the problem. Didn't use RTV in the first place so I knew it wasn't clogged. Not sucking from crank gives the same symptoms.

I'm not sure why the picture is not loading. I am actually in the middle of putting the IC back on the car now. I do have a Gen3. What hole on the Gen3 are you speaking of? If anyone would like to text 603-340-5697 with what is mentioned in a picture that would be cool.
