Drug an RX-8

whiteknuckle

well, not much of a race but...
i was headin to work the other morning when some 20 something guy pulls up next to me at a stoplight in an rx-8 w/a fart can. he kept mildly reving his engine so i knew he was going to get on it. when the light turned green he STOOD on it. i let him get the jump (i was still sleepy) out to about a car and pinned it. we were dead even till he hit second, and then, it was over. i started pulling him pretty easy. by the time it was all over with i had him by at least 1 1/2-2 cars in about an 1/8th mile. i've always heard the rx-8's are slow but dam. he got out run by a 10yr old 145k mile pontiac
that's why i LOVE my car:D

i also ran a friend of mine at work. he just bought a 99 540i. needless to say. i got my ass handed to me. wasn't to bad tho. i knew the day was coming.

yeah, from my experience rx-8's don't handle very well, when your going 65 around a bend, and all 4 tired let loose, i call it garbage. It almost killed me.

they have NOOOOOO torque at all. rotary sucks. it makes its power high in the rpm range and once it dips out of it, it sucks.

i raced a rotary rx7 (older one) in my n/a grandprix and we were even threw his first, then he shifted and it was over. probably a good 2 cars out because he diped out of his powerband. and that was only to about 55 or so.

nice kill man

yeah dats a nice kill to bad i used to really like them r x 7 really dont know much about the rx8 but kew nice kill dude

Reason being is they didn't go forced induction...I bet you money if Mazda would offer a RX-8T or something...like a small ball bearing turbo, and side mounted IC...that thing would make close to 300hp on a small amount of boost...they make nice HP numbers, 250 ain't bad, especially from a motor that only displaces 1.3 liters...and yeah...150ft.lbs of torque...you gotta run those damn things to 8-9grand before they make any power...not a fan of them....but for some reason this is the BEST sounding weed whacker I've ever heard ;)

Big power supras fear rx7's. Not only are they N/A but, cosmo's are just nasty motors. A 4 rotor cosmo will make 500whp N.A and rev out real high. Now if you throw a huge turbo on there :th_nervous: id be scared, defintly hit the 1000hp mark. The cosmo 4 rotor is in Mazda's 787B race car. In the rx8's they have a 2 rotor renesis motor, its the same idea but complete garbage compared to the cosmo's. A boosted renesis motor is still balls slow, and worthless... I guess thats what happens when ford decided to make the motor :th_skull:
