Dropping a pulley size and fixing damage from deer

My Regal has been out of commission since August. A large deer smoked the side if it and Im just now getting it fixed. The car is maroon and the donor parts are green. I will look like a belated Christmas package! Im going to drop to a 3.3 pulley down from the 3.4. I have an intense racing tune, OBX headers, 3 1/4 crossover pipe, 3" downpipe, no cat or resonator, and a full 3" exhaust back to a Thrush welded muffler (All welded no clamps). Also have a 180 T-Stat,o2 extender, zzp TB and heatshield for crossover pipe, (3.4 pulley for now), Autolite 103's, Belcan 7mm wires, stock coils, M.S.P. CAI with 10" power-stacker filter and poly motor mounts. I plan to scan once I get the 3.3 pulley on to check for KR. Im getting none at this time with the 3.4. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also. What are the axle shafts rated for HP and torque wise? I think I should be fine. Thanks again, and I really like this forum better compared to others.

Honestly...3.3" really won't make a difference to be honest...try a 3.25" if you can get away with it...also...at your mod level...I'd have the blower ported. If it was me...I'd have it custom tuned...and bump the timing up and leave the 3.4" on there. A car with higher timing will be faster than a lower timing smaller pulley car. At this point, I'd also suggest going to a open cone intake setup...your getting to the point to where your wanting more flow...so slap that fliter on the throttle body and make some money and sell that junky MSP CAI. I am running stock axles now...but if your worried, ZZP sells built "stage" axle shafts. IMO, as long as your not driving like a moron, new stock ones are great. I'd also suggest a shift kit at this point so it isn't putting as much wear and tear on the clutches and bands of the stock trans...get one from either Intense-Racing or Triple Edge Performance's TransGo kit...I have the TransGo kit and it RAPES the gears...an awesome mod.

3.3 is too small. I couldn't get decent timing out of a 3.3 on a rockered car. You need more mods, like cam. IMO a 3.5 would be better since I prefer more timing. These motors love timing.

I honestly dont know about the degree of timing. As it relates to scaning (I had it scaned), I was just advised that there was no KR, so i am assssssssssuming:confused: that it is stock. I have tossed around the idea about the shift kit. How hard are they to install on a FWD? I have done it on a RWD. I would like to drop down to a 3.25, but I was afraid that my vehicle was not ready yet, thats why I went with the 3.3 (unistalled). My hood and fender should be finished and preped this evening. Thanks for all the advice! I know some, but def not all about these cars or should I say the SERIES II since my car is a GS and not a GTP.Thanks again,
Kevin

RWD wut?

lolz.

GS and GTP are exactly the same platform...both WBody's...and both share the same engine's...so its all the same mang

all i've gotta say is why are you trying to run a smaller pulley instead of trying to reach a certain power level?

Pulley =/= power.

Look at the guy pulling 13.66 on a 3.8 pulley.

BUT...he doesn't even have a tune...and is on slicks...that has nothing to do with pulley size...that's the driver mod.

Right, but that car isn't much any faster than any other stock pullied car on the street...track is a totally different world...I ran with mid 12's cars on my last XP setup...but my car never ran with a crap at the track...always had something going wrong. It never saw 12's. My point is...the guy just needs to get a way to scan and make sure he is knock free before anything.

At this point, I am knock free. I was stating that I have done shift kits on RWD cars(mustang, Zephyr, Dodge truck). Throttle bodies in a FWD tranny are new territory for me. My car ran 13.8 at the track with the aforementioned listed mods, all except the 3.3 pulley which im hesitant to install.

why don't you just keep the same pulley and throw more timing at it. You might be able to get 2* more before it starts to knock

I think he would if he had a way to tune it...I'd say put a 3.25" on there and go back and put race gas in it...I bet you'd run low 13's with a good launch.
