Driver side door window doesnt always go up

My driver side door window only goes up about every 6th time I press the door switch, it always sends the window down but only up about every 6th time like stated above.

If I got a new door switch would that fix the problem and is it something that I could install?

thanks

It sounds like the all too reliable GM window regulators. Mine was going down fine but going up really slow and when cold it wouldn't go up at all. Replaced the regulator and motor and it was fine.

Mine did that once...I had to jump 12v to the window motor to get it to roll up. It went down just fine. I replaced the switch and that was the end of that noise.

Also grease the guides as they tend to dry out and grab the glass on the way up. You may want to pull the door panel to get the lower portion. Even with new regulators/motors my drivers side was slow to go up until I did this. Also spray the felt guides around the window frame with some type of lube. I found one that dries w/o leaving streaks and it made a world of difference.

what kind of grease or lube?

thanks:)

This is what I've been using for the felt guides around the window frame. For the metal guides in the door I just use a good bearing grease.

I know im bringing this one back from the dead. But what wires do you jump with a 12v? My window is all the way down and wont go back up. It started off about 2 inches down and had no problem going down each time I pressed it, to try and get it to go back up. I tried to push it up with my hands with the door panel off but couldnt do it. What is a quick fix just to get the window up for now until I can replace the regulator?

Not sure on which wires to jump, but you could just unbolt the window from the regulator (2 bolts) and jam something underneath the window to keep it up. I used some styrofoam I had laying around. Could use a piece of wood as well.

use duct tape to keep it. Just remember to remove glue residue.
