driver door sagging

anyone know how to fix a sagging drivers door...

ive tried adjusting hinge bolts with no success....ive heard of shims but am unsure of where to place them or how....lemme know it bugs me when i look at it :th_angry-teeth:

are you talk about when you open you're door it sags a bit? If so, mine did the same thing and it started on the passenger side. I took it in to a shop and they said that I hit something. I was like yaa okay! Well one day my gf couldnt get the door closed because the door was clipping the front fender! Bent the hell out of it :( Anyways to my fix, i went to a junkyard and took some door hinges off a 2 door and put them on mine. It seem that the bottom hinge is the one that gives out. When you remove it you can see theres a lot of play up and down. Hope this helps and saves you a front fender lol.

If you shim the door, shim it on the inside of the door, lower most hinge, very bottom bolt. Mine only need 1 shim 1/16".

Most body shops have a special tool which cracks open thr door slightly, one part connects to the stricker, the other part connects to the latch. Theres a handle on this tool, you use up body weight to tweek it back into shape. You can only do this a few times though. I've done my door twice this way, lasts about a couple years before needing work again. This last time (a few months ago) There was no more tweeking that could be done, a shim was the only solution other than replace the hinges (since there not rebuildable like on other vehicles). The shim worked great, was easy to do, and no one knows its there. This should last a few years, longer than the other method. When it sags again, i'll opt for some new hinges. I'll be well into the 200,000 mile range then....

Kind of a hard place to take a pic, i'll see if I can try.

All you need to do is use one shim on the door side of the hinge. There are 2 bolts holding the hinge to the door, back off the 2 bolts some, have a buddy lift up on the door, insert a shim on the lower bolt between the door and the hinge, tighten up the bolts. Nothing much to it......

:th_scratchhead: My car on the driver side does that. Its 4dr... and I have tried everything but still does it. Its not THAT bad but I notice it!
