drag times

Trying to see where I am at in my build, went to the drag strip today in my 02 GTP and my lowest times were 13.7 and 13.8 with 0 reaction time, it was 45 degrees out but it was pretty damp cuz it was just about to rain before the drag strip closed. My mods are:

2.5 inch stainless steel exhaust pipe from CAT
2 flowmaster original 40 series mufflers
K&N cold air intake
Speed Daddy headers 3in DP
Thunderbolt high flow cat w/ o2 sim
Intense Tuned PCM
104 spark plugs
180 TSTAT
3.4 modular pulley system
Ported S/C

Do these times seem decent? The track I go to isnt a very good track and 4 out of the 8 or so times I went down the track my tires would just not want to stick to the drag strip and I would end up getting 15s or my worse which was a 16.8 yuck! I might take a visit to a professional drag strip just to see how it compares but its hard to beat 15 bucks for unlimited runs for 4 hours lol

would you reccommend me getting a retune?

and this is the track that I go to

:: CECIL COUNTY DRAGWAY ::

It's the only track I ever drove on cuz my buddies enjoy going there and we all go down at once on friday night grudge match. Im gonna be picking up a pair of slicks though for sure next year

Reaction time means nothing...you can sit at the light for 20 minutes and still have cracked the same times.

It's all about the 60 foot...always.

What were those times? As well...those seem to be pretty legit times for a basic 3.4" setup...and that is what is expected out of these to be honest, which is great...because that's a high 13 second car for a few hundred bucks when done right....and for budget? That's pretty damn good for a mid 3000's lb. car, wrong wheel drive, automatic, just 6 cylinders...and still gets good MPG's all around.

I'd get the TB ported like Juan said, and have it custom tuned at the same time...a shift kit with some poly mounts would help with the launch, possibly some solid rubber engine/trans mounts as well if yours are tired/worn out/ripped open...as well as the intake system...that's up to you, I'd bet you'd benefit from an open cone at this point now...and dropping to a 3.2" with methanol would make for a mid to low 13's car...on stock rockers and cam? That'd be nice.

I had no idea what I was doing when I bought that CAI....what a waste of 300 bucks -__- what I had planned on doing was work on the cam and heads. I will probably get that done at the local speed shop though from what I hear is quite less expensive then buying them aftermarket. Then I would end up going 42.5 injectors and a 3.0 pulley drop which I think I can pull that off knockless if I remember correctly

I am gonna go with a cam eventually, and I'll want to get an aggressive cam kinda like the XPZ or intense stage 3. I am gonna look into more durning christmas time when that bonus comes around lol. I might just end up getting zzp heads as well cuz I am feeling a bit stingy since I seen a video on youtube of blower being porting out by a speed shop and completely ruining what was a perfectly fine blower.

XPZ or IS3...baby camz

:D

All honesty...An XP with an intercooler would net huge gains with injectors and the correct tune/pulley size (probably a 2.8" or 2.6" depending on the intercooler you go with) would stomp on a IS3/XPZ car without the IC...sooooo thoughts thoughts.

Well if I am gonna get a pair of zzp heads, shouldn't I might as well get the more aggressive cam? I understand the "drivability" of the car goes down a bit when getting an aggressive cam and it doesn't really bother me.

Also I was thinking about just getting the SS intercooler depending on what I need to do to make the stage 2 fit under the stock hood.

What sort of cam?

If for stock heads, local shop might be a better choice.

If for large cam, vendor heads might be better.

I know this will cause uproar but once you factor in new valves and other odds and ends, the price of vendor heads aren't that bad.

I definetly want to get a pair of aftermarket heads either intense or zzp and I was looking at the intense stage 3 or xpz cam

They can do things...

Heres an example:

Local shop wants stock heads, stock cam, cam I want to use, LIM, LIM gasket before they'll do anything.

And its about a two month wait until they even look at them.

PLEASE get a real cam... even with stock heads the XPZ works well if you mill guides down to support the lift...

If E85 is availible in your area.. you could probably skip the intercooler and put that money into a legit fuel setup.

I have always said that all of zzp's heads are cheap for what you get.

What were your 60's at the track? I ran a 13.8 with headers, 3.4, intake and a tune with a 2.15 or so 60' and trapped 99.

You guys suck. I have More mods than both of you and I still can't get past 14.1 @ 98.
Granted I need re-tuned and a new meth controller.

to be honest I have no idea wat the 60' was, i always thought the r/t mattered the most. I decided go with a stage 3/4 intense heads and stage 3/4 intense cam (income tax time can't come any sooner lol) I have questions about the difference between stage 3 and 4 cam/heads.

From what I understand the difference between stage 3/4 intense heads is the stage 4 simply comes with valve springs and retainers for a more powerful cam correct? And also for the stage 4 cam it says "This is the ultimate cam profile for larger or more efficient superchargers" does this mean I couldn't use this cam with the m90 or I wouldn't get as much power out of the stage 4 compared to the stage 3 cam on the m90?
