Downpipe question

Feel free to move this post, i wasn't exactly sure where to put it.

So I am getting a 3 inch downpipe within the next month, and I believe the most affordable stainless one ive seen is Hogans for $125 plus shipping. Im pretty tight with a guy that owns an exhaust shop locally that ive done all my work with and he said he'll do one for $150 including u-bend delete, resonator delete, and cat delete if i choose that route.

Then i read a "mod instruction" post where the guy suggests not having an exhaust shop do your downpipe....is this true?

Id be saving a lot of money by going with the exhaust shop most likely...

what are everyones thoughts? thank you

Sounds like a good deal if you wanted to remove you're resignator and cat.

Just make sure it puts a Flex setion in the dp that he makes. Sounds like nothing is going to be bolt up anymore though. Enless he uses the proper flange to bolt it up to the cat back still. If he is and you don't have a problem with everything being welded together then go for it.

Personally I would just get an off road mild steal downpipe from ZZP. The fit perfect and bolt right up. They will also get rid of the cat and u-bend. I would keep the resignator on. Most people don't like the raspy sound they get after removing them.

x3! on the zzp off road pipe, its less than what your guy wants. Your better off keeping the resonator if your going catless, it will help with sounding like arse. your also better off in case you decide to change your exhaust setup, then you could just un-bolt.

def ge4t something that can bolt up. i had a custom 3 inch welded to my stock cat an totally regret it cause i want a 3 inch dp so i would say go with a zzp or something thats gonna bolt up

So you guys are saying if i get the zzp bolt on, then i wont have to have it installed? That is something i could do myself on a lift, correct?

^yep, same here. Its just 4 rusty bolts and one rusty 02 sensor. a little wd-40 or penetration oil helps a lot. Keep in mind if you do go catless you will need a rear 02 eliminator, or you will get a "check engine" light.
