so..sorry if im asking whats already been asked,but i looked and could not find it.
i was wondering if its possible to take off the homo door trim strip. if so,is it hard to do? what do i need to do it ? and.....is there any disadvantages of not having it, thanx
 


To answer your questions:

1.) Yes, you can take off the homo door trim.

2.) With that, is it hard to do? Well...its only held on there with double sided sticky tape...how strong are you?

3.) What you will need is some heat to relax the double sided tape, such as a heat gun, you will need either a specificity trim cutter/remover, or you can use some fishing string to cut it, though there is two little aligning pins that poke from the trim into an aligning hole on the car to center and level them, so its kinda not fun to work around those.

4.) I see one disadvantage by not having them...door dings from other ass hole drivers who park next to you and cant watch their doors. Not worth the rick to remove them if you ask me. Also, once removed, you will have several holes in the doors and body of the car that have to be filled, and painted over to have a totally shaved look. Its not a matter of removing them and your done, you will have some welding, body work, and repainting to do after they are removed.

thanx for the reply! i think i will do it..but not just yet..when i save my money enough to get the ugly beast repainted i will do it..as for other drivers...ill just be more careful where i park....( i say that now)
 
I highly recommend it. I had it done on my original GTP since early 1999 and loved it. That was actually one of the few cars I've owned that was never door dinged. Now hit and run on the rear bumper is a different story. LOL.

As mentioned, there are two guide pins per piece (four per side). Mine came off REALLY easily. Way back then, most didn't know about the holes. That was an unwelcome surprise shortly before GPG. You will need them welded, smoothed, painted, etc. The sheet metal on the doors is pretty thin too. I think it is totally worth it and sets off the look of the car.

I will definately be redoing this and other So-Lo, G8, etc. inspired mods along with my own. Not looking like the GTP is gonna see the road this year, so might as well make sure it doesn't.

Might as well shave the trunk lock while you're at it.
 
now..those holes,thats something best left to a pro ? trunk lock huh ? im sorry but...whats that mean ? like..no trunk key hole ?

Unless you are skilled at welding, grinding, prep, paint, etc. I would leave that kind of work to the pros. Yes, I mean removing the lock cylinder and welding in a plug, etc. Still works off your remote like stock. Quite a few have performed this mod.
