Door / Ignition chime

It chimes anytime I open the door regardless if the keys are in the ignition or not.he I understand it is supposed to chime if the keys are left in the ignition and the car is turned off. What do I need to do to make it work like it should? My car is a 2002 Grand Prix GT, automatic, 3800.
 


other than the brake pads, tires, engine oil, filter and alternator it is stock from the factory. I purchased it new in Nov 2002, 167,000 plus miles.
