Don't understand the equalizer

I have a 2008 GP and I can't figure out the equalizer. It has five preset that I can adjust and save. I've preset #1 as my favorite; however, it seems my radio/CD player automatically goes to preset #2. I can have it thumping on 1, go into a store and when I restart my car it's set to #2. I don't understand it. Has someone figured this out or is there a seperate manual for the EQ? I couldn't find the solution in my owner's manual.

Presets are not adjustable hence the term preset. Number 1 is the user tuned frequencies and are the only ones adjustable. If you have number one selected than that is what you will hear until you push the button again and #2 becomes selected. and if you are listening to the radio than you can program each station to a separate EQ setting by tuning in the station you want and pushing in the button you want it tuned to and hold the button until you hear the beep. For instance you can tune button 1 to 93.5 and EQ setting 3 and button number 2 to 101.9 and EQ setting 4 and they will stay that way until you reprogram the buttons on the radio. So with that said I am guessing that what you are listening too is programmed for EQ setting 2 and not 1. If you reprogram that station to EQ setting 1 than it will be EQ 1. Am I making any sense?

Thanks for your help simbah. Although your response wasn't entirely correct in my situation, it did lead me to the answer.

All five of my EQ presets are customizable, not just the first one. Once I set all my EQ presets the way I liked them for the various genres of music I listen to, I was able to figure out the channel problems. When you save a channel, it saves the EQ preset with it. For instance, if I set channel 1 to 88.9 and the EQ is set on #3, it will go to EQ 3 when whenever I want to listen to channel 1. So, the trick is to have the EQ preset on the desired preset when you save a station to your station presets. All I had to do was resave my station presets with the desired EQ presets. Took about 60 seconds to get done. FINALLY!!
