Don't buy these axles!!!!

I purchased a new set of axles from Advance Auto. GSP brand. They were brand new not rebuilt ones. Cost me like $146 total. I had my local mechanic install them and my car drove fine. Until I got on the PA turnpike that is. I drove approx. 75 miles when my tranny started to slip and I had to pull over. Well, I finally managed to gimp over to an exit, tranny slipping horribly now, where my buddy and I checked my tranny fluid which was just topped off when my axles were installed. Well it was bone dry...... We walked to a gas station and bought tranny fluid, approx 3 quarts. We put it in and all was fine to drive to the gas station when it started to slip bad again. I pulled in and there was a trail of fluid behind my car. I called my mechanic and he drove all the way down to Norristown and towed me back.....$350 towing. Turns out the axles Advance Auto sold me were too short for my car. My mechanic never noticed beacuse the ends were identical and went in fine, but at highway speed and going around turns my axles were actually pulling my seal apart and I was losing all of my tranny fluid. The entire back of my car was covered in it from on the highway. So fortunately, My mechanic located rebuilt axles that would fit at a local NAPA and my car is ok....for now. I just hope my tranny doesn't blow up from being driven with no fluid in it.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE AND DON'T BUY THESE!!!! THEY COME UP IN THEIR SYSTEM AS BEING FOR OUR 3.8L NA CARS BUT THEY DONT'T FIT PROPERLY. I AM SEEKING DAMAGES FROM ADVANCE AUTO IN THE AMOUNT OF $631 FOR THE REPAIR AND TOW. HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE AXLES. AND JUST TO CLARIFY I PURCHASED THEM IN STORE NOT ONLINE.:th_skull:

hmm, weird. mine are fine, i have both from there and they are gsp. maybe your mechanic didnt push them in all the way?

Sorry for the late response. I held both my old axles and the new ones side by side and the new ones which they claim are correct to OEM tolerances were easily 1"-2" shorter on both sides than my old ones. Thats a total of 2"-4" on both sides for my axles to shift and break the seal. Not to mention, the first call to a NAPA dealer, resulted in the correct axles.
