Does powder coating fade

Someone on this forum told me powder caodeing on calipers will fade from the heat thats why the two rears are red and the two fronts he sold me are orange is that true? I thought powder coating was pretty bullet proof also it is chipping and peeling when I got them, I think had more than the 1500 or less miles he said they had on them any thoughts? I don't want to out him just yet as I am hopeing he will do the right thing (Althought for two months he has been avioding me)

So its looking like someone on the forum here ripped me off hopefully he willsee this post and do the right thing before I out him. But now I guessI know why he sold them and put another powdercoated set on his

Subed for outcome. Not sure if powder coating fades, would not think it should. Fuq it, bust em out.

I am giving him another chance to do the right thing I will be posting installments (so stay tuned) the whole story (he tookme good and I trusted him) at the end if he does not refund the money I will out him

powdercoating doesnt fade, but it'll chip.

it's gonna be a hard layer on top of whatever was coated.

Yea you've been duped. Powder coating doesn't fade. Chip? Maybe but fade? Nope. If it feels rubbery I would say Plastidip but Plastidip can't withstand the heat of calipers

Well a bit more of an update. I sent him the money via paypal like within 10 minutes after he agreed to the price, he had one excuse after another for why he did not ship them yet, (he was very busy with his job, he needed them on the car while his buddy rolled it around the shop so it would stop, I would get them soon as he got the engine rebuilt the he need to make sure he had funds to ship them,) I have seen him on the forum forever he seemed to have a pretty good following here so I trusted him paypal protection ran out then they shipped. (He just answered a pm and I responded I don't think he will do the right then but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt so I will close for now) more to come tues or weds

The calipers arrived in a box that had gotten beaten up during shipping with NO packing material. Well apparently (although the fact that he waited until AFTER paypal protection expired and they were not insured leads me to smell something fishy)he gave them to somebody to pack told them to put them in two boxes a with lots of peanuts and apparently the guy did not do that so he feels he is not responsible. Lets take a vote is he? Also how does that explain them peeling like rubber on the two fronts and the fronts being orange and the rears red (rears are chipped bad but not peeling) But like I said lets take a vote and since he did not insure them I can't go to the post office. Beside even if he did the fact that they were not properly packed will wash out the claim. (you guys will probably be shocked when you find out who it is he is all over this board and apparently quite respected by us, but not by me anymore)

ooh the drama im intersted in who it is haha. i painted my calipers with high temp engine enamel and it has chipped very little its not really rubbery persay but its not super hard if that makes anysense

Powder coating will not peel....EVER. It will chip but is some pretty tough sh*t. I have yet to see any fading on the stuff I get powder coated. I would have to say that the calipers you purchased are most likely painted. i dont see them being dipped and holding up to brake heat.

Alllllrighty....then, BUST EM out the suspense is killing me, at work all we do is call each other out. Makes for a fun day since not much to do in the Army except fight and train LOL.

I will post pics soon as I can figure out how to work the new camera, meanwhile he hada sked me to call them first time he talked abit out the military, we swapped a few stories then he said he needed to get a haircut. call him back, next time I called he said he was still on duty to call back later I called back a7:30 he never picked up the phone. I pm'd him here it the latest exchange; DO YOU EVER PLAN ON TALKING TO ME ABOUT MAKING RIGHT ON THOSE BAD CALIPERS YOU SOLD ME? i WAITED FOREVER TO GET THEM SO THE PAYPAL PROTECTION RAN OUT (IF YOU REMEMBER IT TOOK YOU MONTHS TO SHIP THEM). I WOULD LIKE TO WORK ON AND FNISH MY CAR RATHER THAN JUST READ ABOUT YOURS . SORRY TO DO THIS BUT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO CONTACT YOU SINCE YOU TELL ME CALL "BACK LATER" THE TWO TIMES I CALLED YOU AND NOW YOU DON'T EVEN PICK UP THE PHONE. SO HOW DO I REACH YOU!!! 615 495 3122 i AM OFF TUES WEDS THURS SO PLEASE CONTACTME ONE OF THOSE DAYS
I went to sleep at 7:30 last night. we already have spoke for a good while about those calipers. the guy from the packing store claims he put them in two boxes and he said he wasn't liable for the damage after they left his store.

they didn't have any damage on them when i dropped them off just the powdercoating being slightly faded from the brake dust.
theres differant powders for coating some are more durable. it can fade after a LONG time. but fading isnt the best term for it. slight discoloration would be better.
