Does my alarm work

I have a 2000 grand prix that was recently broken into. I think everything is fixed now, but I would like to know if there is a way to check my alarm to see if it works properly. When I hit the panic button on the key fob the alarm goes off, but what if somebody breaks in again, will it go off. Bumping the car doesn't do anything. This is the fourth time it has been broken into. Didn't have original key fob, but have one now.

that little red light is nothing.

your car is only locked, no alarm at all. smash the window, kick it, nothing happens, but your car getting broke into again.

unless you had an alarm added.

My 2000 used to honk 4-6 times any time a large truck drove by shaking it. So it must've had some type of factory alarm.

Just to let everyone know, it does have an alarm. I tested it by getting in, locking it with the factory key fob then manually unlocking the door with the manual button by the handle. When i opened the door, the alarm went off.

The factory alarm does not have a vibration sensor so bumping the car or breaking a window will do nothing until the door is opened without disarming the alarm.
