A few weeks ago I lost a spare key to my 08 Grand Prix, I went to dealer to see how much it would cost, they said 85 dollars, that is just crazy..Turns out these keys have a transponder in them, it was a PK3 key. So I went to ebay and got one for 9.99 with shipping, turns out any locksmith can cut the key then you have to program it, which is very easy.

To program your key first use a known master key that works.

1. Start the car
2. Shut off the car remove the key
3. Stick the new key in turn it to the run position
4. Wait till the security light goes out. Might be faster than you can see.
5. remove the key and try starting it with the new key

So it only costed me 13 dollars, instead of 85 per dealer

Just something I wanted to share with you guys, so you can save money

Ha, at my work we cut those keys for free but give you a massive disclaimer.

If it doesnt work, you're SOL and we ain't doing **** for you.

Thanks man. Good post. Who can't use a spare key, right. Two years ago, $42.00 dealer price. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Dealers like to rip people off, If I paid 10 dollars on ebay, the dealer probally only paid 5 dollars for key, so they want to make a 80 dollar profit from the customers..Save your money....
