DNA Headers + Coolant Fans Problem

Spartan GL

Specialist Walter US Army
Anyone got the First gen of the DNA Headers (SSAC K/O) ones
and Had any Coolant Fan problems?

My issue from the looks of it.

DNA Headers Pushed Adginst Heatsheild which pushed Fan into Radiatior
Since the fan couldn't move The Fan Motor Blew

So I'm thinking as a Fix get the Flat Heatshield that the Passenger Side fan has and switch em out? and replace the fan motor OR Rock no Heat Shield on the fan? (would the Temp from the Headers kill it?

Yeah. you guys don't know the half of it since i got to Miami

First my lower Radiator Hose Was TWISTED and the SC belt ripped a nice hole in it. Drained all my coolant almost Overheated my car. I parked once i saw the temp going up.

fixed it in a Gas station parking lot after a trip to Napa, Thank god i brought my Mini set of tools!

Then I couldnt get to the 2nd Clamp under the coil packs to get it off. Finally got to it. put it back together and drove a few miles But it was STILL over heating!?

Parked it slept overnight in my car outside of work (since i hadnt gotten my room in miami yet paid for by the govt)

Then I Determined it could be the Theomostat replaced that and the gasket

It was Still overheating just took Alot longer and then i noticed the Driver side fan wasnt kicking on
then i noticed it was being pushed ON the Radiator.

SOOOOO I'm getting to the Root of the Problem...

to be honest, my headers leaned up against my radiator fan heat shields as well and i ran headers for two years or so.

Crowbar + Sawzall = Sexytime.

Discard the heat shield, you don't have much more of an option. Take a drive until the engine warms up, then check the fans to see if they are hitting or rubbing still.

What i dont understand is Why cant they just make a decent bolt on product they have the materials and its easy to get some one in to do fab work for differnt makes of cars

Oh well the real ssac's are the way to go i guess

i have a quarter inch clearance at the closest distance between fans and headers (SSAC knock offs). My concern was heat on the fan motors...

When I installed my tog headers, had to remove the metal heat shield on one of the fans for the header to clear. After it was removed, perfect!

Yea does anything happen if you remove the shield? Or is it pretty much useless and can be discarded?

i wouldnt remove it. its ther to keep the heat away from the fan motor to extend the life of the fan. when removed its just gona shorten life of the fan

even the real ssac's haver issues that have to be fixed. my rear o2 is pushed into my body of the car. which is causing i notacble vibration when i start and drive. i think only weay to fix it is to cut the peice and twist it. oh and the damn ubend in the ssac's i didnt have tme to fix mine last night. and it drags over any little bump i have in my yard lol. if i was to run with no rear o2 till i got it tuned what would happen?

It would throw a code, but that's about it. Everything should run just fine.
