DIY intake

hey i want to make a diy intake. I heard that a 4inch 45 degree tube would be good. Just wanted to check. also how did you to the air intake temp sensor? just drill a hole and get a rubber gasket or whatever the proper term is. also what brand filter should i get k&n or a cheaper version? thanks for any help:)

Spectre filter. Either drill a hole or just leave the iat sensor out. I've seen it done both ways, but you might get a code if you leave it hanging there. As for the tube part, I've seen a bunch of different approaches to that. Some guys buy aluminum piping, some use pvc, some use that flexible rubber tubing stuff. There are threads on how to do this in the how to section.

What do you guys do for the ait? Breather filter?

slap a pipe in the tb, drill a hole put the ait sensor in the hole. put the hole in the same stock location.

whats a breather filter?

A breather filter is a little filter think of a valve filter.. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about

no idea wtf your taking about. "still"

we use a pcv valve, not a breather on the valve cover cap. and theres only one filter on a intake. and its in your stock air box or a open cone air filter if you removed the stock air box to make a diy intake.

Yes I no only turbo guys use it actually I wasn't debating the reason I was saying for the iat but you are right you know everything about everything even when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand genius!

why would you put a filter on the ait hole? you need that sensor so the engine knows what the "air intake temps" are "ait" sensor.

They were saying let it hang out in the open.. I've heard wrong or not of people using filters to put the ait in.. I'm not gonna do it regardless I have a actual CAI I was just curious

So to get this back on track, this is what I did 4" 22.5* bend:

Except it is actually attached to the TB, lol

some guys just put the ait sensor inside the open cone filter and call it good. if the filter is on the TB directly theres no hole to put it in.

some will just zip tie it to the outside of the air filter. im no fan of either of those.
