• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I have a 2005 GTP Comp G and I want to start modding it. I have read the "how to safely mod your 3800" post but I have some questions still. Does anyone have a link to detailed instructions on making your own cold air intake, I can't seem to find one. Also what are the benefits of new spark plug wires and a 160* tstat? How hard are headers to install and what kind of HP increases can I expect from them?

5~ HP...maybe. If you have a dirty air filter.

If you actually read that thread you would have seen the DIY intake link in there.

Otherwise...search and google are your friends.

(2) 3" couplers
(1) 45* Street elbow
(1) 4" filter. I have this AEM 9"X4" CONICAL DRYFLOW AIR FILTER ELEMENT 21-2059DK | eBay

1 coupler to TB then MAF.
Then 1 coupler from MAF to PVC street elbow.
Then elbow to filter.

Throttle Body -> Spectre 3.5" to 4" coupler -> Spectre 45* 4" OD pipe -> K&N Filter. super easy. You probably won't feel any difference, but your car will sound different and be more responsive. Keep stock plugs and wires for now. Don't worry about the thermostat yet either. If you do headers you could go to AL104 plugs and a 180* thermostat, but you'll need to get a tune then too. Headers are pretty difficult to install, especially if you don't wrench much. They are very time consuming. probably 15-20hp from them
