Dirty cars

When I had my black car, I was a lot more picky about keeping it clean and I washed it about every other day. Now, I have the silver one and I still wash it regularly, but not as often.

Basically boils down to how picky you are and if you have a color that shows the dirt more.

In the summer I washed it about ever 2-3 weeks. Winter is here and I cant find the time. Plus, my blue grey paint hides dirt very very well. I need to get rubber floor mats though.

Black car plus rain is terrible. You get that film on the car that requires hand washing to remove it. Then a perfect towel dry or you have spots for days

Silver cars are easy to keep looking clean. Even white is hard to see swirls but black , it's a pain in the ass

Agreed... After 3-4 hrs of cleaning my Black Mica Miata and 30 mins later it looks dirty again, mind you still sitting in the same spot in the car port, I decided that I wouldn't buy another black car. But I am pretty picky so ya.

Now the silvermist hides the dirt well, especially if you do like most of us did and give a good wash and hand wax to last thru winter. She is dirty but still shiny and reflective thru the dirt, love it... need to wash her tho, but its just so cold

If it was dirty 30 mins after you skipped drying or live in an extemely pollenated area.

Southern Oklahoma, 15 mins north of texas border... its really dusty. Car was dry, I said 3-4 hours, I took a orbital buffer and waxed it top to bottom and polished after. Got hungry cuz it was lunch time and so I went in and made some food and after eating went out to go for a drive to enjoy the car and had a layer of dust across the hood. Fresh Polished Jet Black that looks like a dam mirror, you notice specs of dust from 10 ft away... just made me go all
:th_exploding:

inside of mine is spotless, wife's car is horrid.. I've tried keeping it clean but seems like the more I try, the more junk they throw on the ground... and then i get asked "how come I can never drive your car"... oh I'm umm going to work on it today.. yeah that's it...

My Dad used to be the same way with his cars until he got a nicer one. Now for the most part he keeps it cleaner. Regardless I would let him use my car with only one rule. There better not be any trash in there when I get it back.

I would NEVER own another black car again!!! That or a white car. Hard to tell what was worse. My last car was black & it didn't matter what I did the car always looked dirty a day or two after I cleaned it up. Now I got a gray car & even a week after washing it, the car still looks basically clean.

I figure why wash a car in the winter on a regular basis. It will just get dirty again once you take it back on the road with all the snow & slush & crap. I try to wash mine on occasion during the winter just to keep the road salt to a minimum. Anymore than that is pointless.

My what? Or did you mean to use "you're" meaning "you are"? Or maybe you don't know the difference.

And next time, try to type with big boy words that everyone can understand and are not starred out.
No you got it right thanks for the proof read don't know where I'd be without you.

my car gets washed every weekend, unless its raining, or going to rain the whole next week, i need 3 days of a clear forecast and its done.

i use to wash my car every Tuesday, its been at less a month since i've washed her then again only drove it about 7 days out of the past month....

Re: Dirty Cars

Whenever I'm actually working on my car (or a friend's car, for that matter), I can get a little OCD and clean the parts that were taken off until they shine. Last time I changed the belt, I pulled some of the pulleys off just to clean them. My friend mocks me when I do that to parts of his car.

As for the body, it has gathered imperfections over the years, so looking at it completely clean isn't as rewarding as it could be, so I don't do it that often. The plastic on the doors are a big problem; they have a lot of paint coming off, and the bare plastic is black (on a white car).
