Digital HP Tuners registering different cable.

One of my friends let me barrow his DHP tuner. I downloaded the DHP software from Dropbox along with .Net Framework 1.1. I have some pictures on my current setup. The different cable is the silver one with blue connectors. its a serial to usb cable. Number 2303 on cable. The problem I am having is when I open PowerTuner it wants to register the cable. I have tried all 16 COM ports and buad Rates. Also tried all 3 USB ports on laptop. And every time it shows up unable to communicate. When I go into Device manager I get a Code 10 error for not enough data on the cable and it is currently up to date. When I talk to my Friend he says I need to find a driver that will let my computer connect/recognize the cable. My computer is running windows 8

Ditto but running windows 10. Messed around about half hour on it tonight and I'm scratching my head on this one but not a big computer guy. I was just about to start the same thread.
 
you need the driver for the adapter cable you are using from usb to serial

Guy 2.. you need to use a compatibility mode.
 
keyspan, as above. those cheapo serial/usb's seem to be hit or miss depending on how far away from quota they were at the time in china. and even then DHP dont like em

the key span is what i have, they have drivers on their site there. you pick the one that matches your os in your pc. driver for a USA-19HS

you would also need a normal serial cable from the dhp to the keyspan. then the usb from the keyspan to the laptop.
