hi all wanted to see if anyone else has tried this so i searched a lot found nothing like ti thought id just ask. I had a wizzard style box before with a heat shield and 3" pvc. now i upgraded to 4 inch and i was trying to see about making a fwi but after looking around in the lesabre i found that the evap canister is the exact size as the filter. so i moved it to a new local(tbd) abd ran the 4" piping to the hole with only a 45 out of the throttle body then a straight piece then a sweep 90 then the filter sticking out the bottom its literally sitting right behind the bumper cant be much colder air than that. anyways just seeing if the grand's were the same way and if anyone has tried it? if not the Bonneville? oh and still working on a good spot for the ecu also there both quazi mounted but anyways thoughts?

your bends are too extreme. the largest bend you should have is a 22.5* bend which will go straight into fender hole and the filter should just sit there. anything more will just cause flow restrictions.

well i have a lesabre so the fwi doesnt apply to me thats why i was looking for a "differnt type of cai" i know a 22.5 would be best well in that thought none would be best but i cant do that. i would love to se some data on the stock flow vs a typical fwi vs my 4inch. I know less bends are always better but in this size pipe the bends are really smooth and gradual not to mention i ported them out to be smoother and flow better, and the 90 is almost a foot long radius so again like i said i knw bends dont help, but i dont know how much they actually hurt. my old civic had a injen intake and it had some bends in it similar to mine and made 11hp over stock.. just food for thought

a civic is a whole 'nother ball game since the stock airbox is probably super restrictive from the get go. why do you say the FWI doesnt apply? you still have a hole in the fender there like the rest of us. any bends in our intakes hurt. they like to see as much flow as possible.

i just bought a cone filter and stuffed it on my throttle body. not the most ideal for people wanting a "cold air" intake, but it works for me since im making much more boost than stock.

no i dont have the hole in my fender i could drill one with a hole saw but there is lots in the way. not to mention my fenders are slightly more narrow than yours the filter wouldnt come near fitting there

thanks for your input bio. i was running that for a bout 6 months and wanted to make something different thats why i made the new system but i guess it doesnt matter for the grands

I still say bolt that bish near the Throttle Body...it'll make your throttle response better and its easier to work on IMO...
