Did I really beat a 350Z?

ummm guys, are 3.5 maximas fast??? because they have the same motor but the 350z has a little better intake. rated at 270 hp. idk what year they started but around 2000-04 were pretty slow. i ran one with just an intake and actually pulled a little bit. his was an auto tho, i know a manual would have had me. yes the new ones are a bit quicker, not insaine fast, but they are faster.

350z aint nothing really. i bet i could run with a newer one as i sit now. now the 370z is a little different. 3.7 with 333 crank hp

all these are considered stock.

THe '08+ Z has the same 3.7 liter V6 but it has about 25hp less or so...but still they weigh less and are RWD...If you can take one go for it. They are great cars for what they are and keep in mind the Z is doing this all N/A...put a M90 on that thing and see how fast it'll go ;)

3.5 maximas can be decently quick, my friends 02 6 speed (before he wrecked it) was a high 13 second maxipad. He had headers, intake, some type of apexi tuning thing (not sure what he meant), catless exhaust, and dyno tune. Thats pretty decent for a maxipad, that car ate 350z's, and it sounded absolutely orgasmic...:th_drooling:

they do sound really good.

and the 350z has the 3.5, he 370z has the 3.7

and yea they are doing it all motor, nissian does have a hell of a motor.

It's not just nissan that has a hell of a motor. Most of the jap car makers have a 3.5 now. all rated pretty much the same. I think the accord has 271 the toyota has 268hp all of pretty impressive, considering they are n/a. But i belive all of them all have their own v-tech, i dont remember who has which one or remember what they call them, some are mitech, iitech well anyways these variable valve timing really boosts the engines output. Just look at dodge's new 5.7 hemi. I produces over 50+hp more than the older 5.7 hemi just by using the variable valve timing. I am also verry impressed with the new 3.7 that nissan just put out. I belive nissan started making the 3.5 v6 design first and the other jap car makers followed along. Now i belive gm and other domestic car makers should start designing the v6 alot more like the jap v6's. I see the new '09 buick is still using the 3800 which produces only 200hp I belive the 3800's time has run out due to the new and better v6's that are designed today. Even ford has a 3.0v6 that produces 221hp. Oh and all the new jap v6's get great hp. idk this is all from my own research and my own opinons soo don't take any offense and if i might get any numbers or names wrong or mixed up i appologize. Oh and if they did throw on a turbo or s/c on the new z370 that thing would fly.

The Ford V6 puts out a rated 265hp in the HO version...and the 3800 was last used in the Grand Prix in the '08 models. They no longer produce a L36/N/A 3800 in ANY car. Honda has been using a 3.5 in the Acura RL for years WAY before Nissan came out with one. Nissan's flagship for a very long time was the 3000 V6 (a 3.0 liter DOHC motor both used N/A and turbo version's in the 300ZX and the Maxima) VTEC, MIVEC, VVTi, VVT, DOD, AFM...whatever you want to call it...they have been around for along time it is just in my opinion that car makers didn't want the public to have it until all this fuel crunch...then they introduced it as a scapegoat to save their failing automobile company...hence why I think that the SUV's have survived with all of this crap...and I doubt it was JUST VVT that gave the Ram's 5.7 HEMI more than 50 hp over the last one...it was probably tuning, head/intake/exhaust/bottom end reinforcement, etc.

Im sure the new GXPs could run a 13.9 stock if at a low elevation track on a cool day or they could run 14.7s at a crap track. Just depends on a few things, too many variables.

the imports might have the v6 game on lock, well i wouldent even really say that. i think the capibilities of the 3.8 far excede any of the import motors. but when it comes to real motors, gm has that on lock down with there lsx series :D

the zo6 can still get in the upper 30's mpg crusing on the highway according to the DIC, no varaible valve timing needed. and it makes alot more lowend torque. its a cool feature but i think its overated.

and im sure a gxp is capable of high 13's but ive yet to hear of one doing it. they only trap about 95-97 from what ive seen.

Hey everyone. I was cruising around some forums while deciding on a winter beater for next winter (please dont take that the wrong way lol). I happened across this thread and thought i could throw some useful info out there. Here is a list of all the best times that have been verified by members on my350z.

good to know. seems like there kinda hard to lauch with some of the high 60's also very in variable. auto's sometimes going much faster than the manuals.

i wouldent be all that worried when i run across another one :D

Yeah I hated the stock tires. With slicks/decent rubber those 60's come down. A few more numbers for ya.

I picked up an '08 touring last summer. no body kits or anything I prefer it to look stock on the outside :th_sinister: lol
Heres a pic:

^ my new toy. the rest of the kit is coming from the UK as I type this :D
can we say no rebuilding solenoids anymore? :)

Nice ride for sure...I was gonna buy a '04 before I looked at my GTP...lemme tell ya the ride...oooo...way too harsh IMO

I'd sit nice and comfortably in the top 5 with a car that weighs A LOT more :p

I looked at an '04 before I picked this one up. With the economy in the crapper I got a pretty sweet deal that i couldnt pass up.
The ride is a bit harsh. I do DD it but it only bothers me when i see potholes approaching lol. But I learned to love it the first time on a road course :th_thumbsup-wink:
