Did I really beat a 350Z?

So I pulled out behind a 350z last night and was beside him and got a red light, I had 2 buddies in the car, 2 tires, and a floor jack lol and i looked over and it was a middle aged guy looking back at me smiling. I wasnt sure if he wanted to go so i let him make the move, sure enough he mashs it at the green light so i do as well, and I pull on him? We went up to 80 and i probably had 1/2 car, maybe a full car? Seemed like he was closing....Is this possible?

I have a 98 GTP coupe, CAI is only mod
 


I doubt it, they are making 300 bhp give or take a bit with varying years, and 270 ft-lb. It is a two seater, rwd drive car. Curb weight is around the same I am pretty sure, my friend has a stock 2007 touring and it ran a 13.8 in the 1/4. I think he was just playing with you, these cars are pretty quick.
 
I beat one with my old m90 cammed intercooled setup. Beat him by about 2 1/2 cars.
 


Yeah I was just saying it wa possible. Maybe it was a stck and did not know how to drive it.
 
I beat a 350z from a light, and my car is slow, dude gave me the hazards on the ricer flyby, Ive never seen someone so mad before haha! If you look at video's of 350z's running the 1/4 mile they are dead slow, like 15.5's. 350z's are way over rated and over priced.
 
That would be best scenario, but judging by the "mashes it" hard launch and kept close I would say he wasn't at WOT the entire time. In third gear my friends 350 is already mid 80's or 90's. I just think he was playing with you dude.

I would have to disagree, my friends 2007 touring does high 13's and low 14's all day long. :confused:

Agreed they are over-rated and over priced but someone who can drive it can whomp us with just a CAI. He beat me everytime we raced and I have a 98 gtp sedan (slightly heavier than the coupe i think).
 


Yeah my friend has an 07 touring. So it would have the VQ35HR. But in that his rt and 60 ft both need work. Yeah they are porkers, but if it is a newer one I doubt he did we need a bit more information then. The older coupes are considerably lighter than the 07/8's
 
I have a '06 GXP and I smoked a 350z (not sure if it was a turbo) it was rainign but we were only doing like 70 when I blew by him and he clearly slowed down.
 


i took a 350Z from 20mph-140mph, i caught the downshift and pulled a car and a half on him to 140, i got off it and he flew by, then tried telling me that he beat me top end. the Z does have a good topend so as your only mod being a CAI, you beat him this time, next time not so lucky

It would depend on year, and driver but I think it would be pretty damn interesting. But an 07 350z I think you would lose, but not by much. Plus you weight 400 more pounds dude.
