DIC Question for 98-03

I got lucky today and found a DIC from a 1999 GTP for my 1998 GT. I started the install and found that I needed the harness since the plug-ins were different. The junk yard wouldnt let me cut the pigtail off when I went back to get it. What should I do? Can someone give me some info on where i can find the 24 pin connector?

X2 pocket it .. I got lucky and got my pigtail from one of the guys on here then found the DIC on another forum .... but go into the local U-Pull-It and chop one out.... or I believe you can go to your local GM dealer and get a full pigtail but that way is pricey.
 
1. did you look just behind and down to the right of the DIC location? you may have the connector. it'd be covered by foam and in your dash by your glovebox
2. if not, look for partouts in the for sale section, i'm sure just about any user parting out will be able to provide you with one for cheap
3. if no luck, then do as SuperSport said and get one through morad
4. i hope you let your junkyard know that was the last time they got business from you
5. there's a how-to on how to fix the TCS light being on when it should be off and vice versa, maybe someone else can link you there seeing that i'm having no luck. or just search yourself, i'm pretty sure BackInBlack provided it
 


Wow noreasonwhy is right...I didnt even think of that. The original poster has a 98, therefore he SHOULD have the plug in his dash when he removes his old DIC.

Ill check for the other connector in the dash. Didn't think there would be one in the foam. Ill let y'all know what I find. Thanks for all the help and info guys.
 
Well I checked for the pigtail and came up empty. Guess I wasn't lucky enough to have it in my car. Guess I will have to order one from morad. Sucks

look again, it'd be tucked in to the right of the DIC/head unit/CC between there and the glove. 97s and 98s were wired for HUD and DIC because GTPs were an option rather than a trim package. if you don't have it, you've got a late built 98, i'd imagine. give it a nice look-see, i'd hate for you to have to splice when the connector's there all along.
 
Looked again. Removed the head unit for better visual. Still no pigtail. Guess I'm not that lucky. Ill check again in the daylight. The build date for the car is 03/98
 


Ok I picked up a harness from the pick and pull. Doing some reading and it seems as though I need to run a wire from the instrument cluster to the dic. Is that right? If so, which one? I can't seem to find the thread that I saw it in.
 
its one of the green wires on the Natural plug of the gauge cluster. I have to look at my plug out guide I have.
 
Natural plug? Is this the plug going into the rear of the IC? Sorry for so many questions but I want to be shure I get it right the first go around.
