DIC not displaying after HU install

So I installed a head unit probably 1-2 weeks ago. After doing this my DIC doesn't light up anymore. Now under the right sun light I can see behind it and the numbers are there and change and such but under normal operation the screen is black. Did I unplug something?
 


Probably not, most likely a coincidence. Mine comes and goes also. You need to do the led upgrade for the backlight.
 
Im referring to the 97-03 units, but im sure its the same for newer ones. Lcd displays in themselves are not very bright, that is why they are backlit. It uses normal incandescent bulbs and while you can replace with that, why not go the led route and never have to do it again and end up with a brighter display. I have not done it yet because mine still works, alot of people on here have though, and maybe they will chime in or do a write up.
 
I got a 97-03 (GTP) one with a warranty if your interested lemme know. Bought it and didnt need it after all.
