this is what dexcool does when it sits. ive never personally seen it until today. 99 monte carlo 3.8

my plan is to dig as much as i can around the neck out. unhook both upper and lower rad hoses, and run water through it. after that hook up the lower rad hose, take t stat out, stick water hose in the rad filler neck and let the pump run clean water through the system for a while. hopefully that will get alot of that crap out of there. the car has never overheated. enven the last 2days after sitting for three months. later replace the lim gasket in both the monte (brothers car) and grand prix (my car)

he had to go somewhere tonight, hopefully one more night of driving it wont hurt it. (i know i woulnt drive it)

a good flush will help too,
mine looked like that and i drove it everyday very little down time, and it still turned out just bad

Its when it isn't changed once every year to year and a half that it will gunk up.

We have all seen it, its nothing new. If you haven't learned by now, then dex isn't for you.

Its not dex cool's fault. Its called poor maintenance. Check the electrolysis of your coolant when it gets over .25V you need a flush.

it has never looked like that before it was parked when my dad got a new buick. yes it should have been flushed before this happend (he had it flushed a while ago). maintence on this car has been premium, 301,000 miles, orginal motor/trans, and its still running better then just about any car out there thats 13yrs old. dad is the original owner also.

but i agree, should of had a flush and put different coolant in there.
