Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Dex VI Fluid Change

I switched from III to VI at 123K (granted only 5K ago) with only doing a pan drop and still drives fine. So theoretically I have Dex 4.5....

Same thing.... im at 3k tho, but It shift a hell of alot better IMO, then again I was at 80k and didnt know when the last time it was changed, wasnt slipping but was really really dark looking and tech said it had a slight burnt smell when draining it
:th_scratchhead:

Up to you tho

Dave got back to me and I will be sticking with his recomendation of using dex 3 just to be safe. Thanks to all for the information provided.

Glad to help ya out man. But before you change your fluid you really shoud think about buyin the trans go shift kit from TEP and install it while you are in there. You WILL love you gp more. Here is the link if you are interested. Half way down the page. http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com/Upgrades.html

I have one ready to replace the wbody store shfit kit in mine and one for my brothers 03.

For all of those asking why he recommended to stick with dex 3 versus switching to dex 6, I will post his email reply so I don't misquote him. Dave thanks for the info and he can help those out with the 04+, as I am not sure which years dex 6 was introduced into the newer vehicles.

Dex VI is a good fluid and supposed to be backwards compatible with Dex 3 which is what came in your vehicles. I personally am not a big fan of switching fluids on a matured transmission and since VI is a bit thinner and a synthetic blend you could run into excessive slippage problems and set code P1811 if the pcm cant compensate enough. Your 03 is the best shot and changing fluids, the other two I would keep using Dex3 to be safe
