the spoiler has a bunch of nuts you have to remove from inside the trunk, then it just pulls off.

when i pulled mine off to replace with an aftermarket unit i just masked off the areas i wanted to stay within, sanded down the rusty spots and sprayed it down with some paint i had laying around (happened to be flat black).
