Delilah....dyno rackar

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

drop the cradle a little take off the passenger wheel and brakes, hang up the caliper on the strut, and go to town. GM is smoking on that piece. IMO

Heck I don't even think a cradle drop is necessary to be honest. I'm going to investigate a little further but if anything an inch or two at the most

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

That's how we do it. Usually gotta drop the cradle a inch or 2 to give you space to remove the HB out.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

what tools are actually required would i need? cause i really dont think all those are required

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

Basic socket, a breaker bar, vice grips and then a harmonic balancer remover and the correct sized bolts for it.

The way I did it for my car was... Jack the car up and put jack stands on the sides of the car. Position the jack underneath the pass side of the cradle and jack the jack up..slowly remove the 2 bolts that hold the cradle up...let the jack down 2 inches or so. The crank bolt is a pain to get off unless you have - good enough compressor...so what I did is take a set of vice grips and put it on the flexplate. Then used the breaker bar to crack the bolt loose. Then use the HB remover and remove it. Rough draft of how to do it. GM tends to exaggerate things. Of course you have to remove your serpentine belt first.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

Dropping the cradle on a 3.8 is pointless, just making more work for yourself.

Havent seen a 5.3 done yet, so can't comment there.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

Kind of had too...couldn't get the HB to move enough to get it out without dropping the cradle slightly. Took what a whole 30 mins if that so not a big waste of time.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

so what does the manual mean by this
Tighten the bolt a second pass to 140 degrees using J 45059

you can read it on step 6 of the install process

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

Alright....got the sunroof back in again. Car is currently in racekar mode with nothing but the two front seats in. I used actual rtv and job weld to seal everything this time instead of caulking.
Also while doing so another gxp owner stopped to say hi. Its a silver with just exhaust done but sound great. Makes me wanna get exhaust done as well. I told him to join up on this site so we shall see if he does or not

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

In all honesty tho hopefully this works out for you!

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

alright....now for some pics

sun roof out

back seats and roof liner out and all

trying something better than caulking

flash made it look shiny

rubber sealant

under the seats = extremely messy

ceiling without any liner or anything

puttin it back in

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

so you got the head liner off with out taking the seats out, how did that part go? did it slide out the door, and what door did you use?

ive heard tail of the headliner being a pita to get out with out breaking it or bending it.

one day i want to re cover mine. but dont feel like fighting with it and f ing it up.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

i found it easier to do with the back seats completely out and the front seats pushed as far forward and all as possible....and two people also made it easier. we just carefully took it through the rear passenger door and pulled the rear out first. we had to bend it a little but not enough to leave any marks or anything in it....im going to see if itll fit in trough the trunk but i doubt it will

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

good to know, everyone says its a hassle, looks easy enough. new project for me down the road.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

I mean ive done it three times now. First time is the hardest cause all the wiring is glued taped and zip tied to it. But I just let the wires sit up there now cause its more work to tie em down again.

Re: Her names Delilah......wobble wobble wobble

ive only got the lights over the back doors and a power switch for the moon roof, shouldn't be to bad.

it was the getting it out of the car that had me a bit worried. re covering it should be a breeze too.
