Deleting U-Bend. Easier to keep the O2 or Not?

So, I have a issue. My U-Bend is cracked and its throwing a code. I'm trying to figure out if I remove the O2 do I have to get a tune etc or should I have a spot for the O2? Which is easier. I need it done asap. I tried to talk to a shop and they said it'll throw the code even if I deleted the U-Bend

Ummmmm im running u bend delete and I has no code. The only problem you could have is if you remove thw rear o2 then it set a code. Just delete the u bend it will be fine

If you unplug the sensor you will get like 4 codes.

It's easier to buy a 2 dollar o2 sensor bung and weld it on to the new pipe and put the sensor back in.

Mines unhooked and I'm only getting one code. I'm catless as well. Wonder if I plug it back up will it show the cat code?

Sorry for the thread jack

If its a 97-00 just have a pipe welded in and run without the 02 sensor. If its 01+ you need to keep the rear 02 or you will have problems.

If its a 97-00........run without the 02 sensor.

Can you clarify? Do you mean:
1.) You can run without rear O2 and NOT throw a code
OR
2.) You can run without rear O2, throw a code, but still run fine

I have a 2000 GTP and I'm subject to emissions testing. If I have a MIL, I don't pass.
I'm looking to install headers in the near future, and knowing this could help me.

97-00 can run without the rear o2 and be prefectly fine but the SES will always be on. Unless the codes are set to no report inside the PCM with a tuner.

To add to what Cam said, in 01 they added a cat diagnostic test that runs every so many seconds, when it does this and doesn't get a reading from the rear O2 it gets stuck on and just dumps fuel.
If you don't want the MIL to be on just buy an 02 sim from zzp.

Thanks for clarifying!

I think this ^ will be my plan. I was hoping to use the rear O2 bung in the headers for a wideband O2 gauge.

Sorry, hijack over.
