deleting rear O2 sensor

i gutted my cat and of course my check engine light comes on. ive looked for a delete for it but can only find one for grands prixs up to 2003. so my question is can i make my own? i believe the computer needs a reading between 1 and 5 volts. can i just tap into some other power source and restrict the power down to what i need?

did a little more research. sounds like the signal from the sensor is a wave and not linear. also looked around for other options. would this work or is this a bunch of bs? O2 Simulator Mini Cat Cel Fix

i already have non-foulers spacing the rear sensor out and it hasnt kicked the light off...

Last year I took a Potentiometer and used the 12 volts from the heater wires and turned it down to .4 volts and hooked it up to the signal wire and been running it like that for a year now without any problems

Can you please provide more info on "ive looked for a delete " but only available for before 2003.

Is there a way to override the rear O2 sensor so that it does not keep throwing an error.

I tried to replace my rear 02 sensor last year, but could not get it off the CAT.

thanks

What year is your car? Any '01+ needs a rear o2 sensor and you have to have the codes tuned out. Only '97-'00 cars can get away without a rear o2 not being in the exhaust.

its an 05. what do you mean by have the codes tuned out? i thought there had to be some kind of reading coming from the rear o2?

mgolin: 3800performance.com makes a rear o2 sensor delete. it plugs directly into your harness, so if you can get your sensor out i guess you could just leave it in there and zip tie the pigtail up to your car. if you do want to get it out get a torch, heat the pipe up around the sensor and then try to remove it. heating the pipe up to a cherry red and then cooling it down with water extremely fast will also help break the sensor loose especial if the sensor is already bad...

yeah sk8terdude, you need to get ahold of someone that can "tune" the car (ie. with hpt or dhp) 01+ cars have cat diagnostic checks that are ran. without a rear o2, fueling issues, and troublesome ones at that can occur with deleting it.

here, read this whole thread, i know its alot but it will give you a better understanding of the "diagnostic" tests that are ran by the pcm..

so i have a hard time spending 600+ for a tuner just to get my check engine light turned off. if i would get the tuner would the performance gains be worth it?

well i obviously have a gutted cat and no res with a dynomax vt muffler and a cold air intake. thats all for now. ive been thinking about forced induction, but not sure if its worth the money... especailly since my car isnt even a gt. and kinda off topic but would some explain the differences between the base and gt motors, if there are any. or direct me to a thread thats explains it.

Sk8erdude:

All you need to do is find someone to remove the reporting codes for you. This is a few clicks in a program and 10 minutes of your time to reflash the PCM.

mgolin:

Please type english you are kind of hard to understand. "anouther location that you can breack in at." The o2 Sensor Simulators plug in to the plug that your rear o2 Sensor Plugs into. Pretty self explanatory from there.

I just bought the 3800 performance emulator, how well does that work an 00' grand prix? currently have P0420 code because of a high flow cat

I think they work ok. If I were you I would return it and just buy a tune off someone or have someone tune your car. It's easy as pie to remove that code and set it to non-report.

Just my 2 cents.

Mine works perfect but only because I don't have the o2 self diagnosis?
