PS that tire shops retarded wheels don't have an expiration date. If they leak they are bent, cracked, peeling chrome/paint, or not sealing properly around the lip, OR tires are junk.
Age and mileage should have nothing to do with the wheels leaking air provided they are in good condition.

If you want to save money, just get the same size rims and swap the tires over.
Going up to 18's just increases your costs overall.

I've never had a leaking rim that I couldn't fix - I grind through the corrosion, and sometimes I will repaint the rim.
If they are lazy, putting a fresh coating of bead sealer will fix it for a while but the problem will come back until you get rid of that crap (hence the grinding).
