Delco Spark Plug Wires.... Quality Down?

When I bought my GTP, first thing I replaced was spark plugs and wires. I replaced the wires with the AC Delco OEM option. I must have taken the wires off and put them back on a million times, always switching between stock, 104's, 605's, 606's all trying different tuning and spark plug combinations I could think of and scanning to see the results. I wasn't even gentle removing the wires, and they never broke on me. I could even get away with yanking on the wire itself.

Fast forward, bought a set for my Impala SS.... seriously, if they have been on for more than a couple weeks, forget about removing them. Spin the boot around, squeeze the boot firmly, pull.... the whole boot and wire come off, the connector stays on the plug... and this is every single wire. I had even used a ton of dielectric grease during the initial install anticipating having to remove them!

Then I had the same problem with a replacement set... was there a manufacturing change somewhere down the line? Maybe I need to switch brands?

I don't know how long they had been on there, but my 99 GTP had Delcos on it that looked like new. From when I got it until last weekend. 4 out of 6 ends yanked off, and they were not working well on the car. I chalked it up to general degradation of world quality, its evident everywhere you look. Don't know why its this way now, but the same thing happened to Accel wires... used to be great, poop now. I've just accepted the fact that I'll have to rebuild all the wire ends if I want to eyeball a plug. Its like when you get cash from a bank now... small bills used to go on top, now its reverse. The world may never know why, but yep I have encountered this also. Quality seems to be unavailable.

i'm sure just like every other so called american product, they've been out sourced to asia. quality control is a thing of the past.

NAPA Belden wires, been through so many brands these never have let me down. AUTOZONE USED to have great brand long time ago but now they have Bosch crap and duralast. Jacobs used to make best wire but Accel bought them now MSD has Accell an Mallory.

I have to agree with the Belden name. I've had good luck with them. I bought a set of AC delco for my pick up. They were awful. I got my money back. So you aren't alone.

I've had msd wires for about 5 years now. I've taken them off and on more times then I can count without any issues. People say they suck same with the coils I haven't had any issues.

msd 8.5mm universal v8 diy bendable boot plug set.

you end up with 6 perfect length wires, and two spares for down the road.

the Tr's wires are old as hell and been removed nearly a hundred times....still havent needed the spares
